When Matt found this BMW R69 US model in New South Wales, it had been neglected for some time, but he couldn’t leave it behind. He did not anticipate the challenge he’d have, finding someone to restore it. Until he was recommended to speak with BMWerks.
Martin had a reputation for taking on “difficult’ projects. After much discussion and exchange of information, Matt made the trip to Queensland to dispatch this pride and joy.
The challenge with older bikes is you never quite know what you will uncover, and in the case of Matt’s bike, Martin found that both hubs were cracked and needed replacing. With the help of US restoration legend, Tim Stafford, Martin found a set of hubs and this bike was returned to Matt fully restored.
As an ex-pilot, Graham has an eye for detail and was delighted with the final outcome. He even made a late decision to change the seat to achieve a more vintage aesthetic.
